For my VR photography class (different than the AR/VR course) we had to do a tour of a business. I chose Birdcage Disc Golf, my local disc golf shop. We were given a cannon camera, tripod, and a fisheye lens. The fisheye lens can see 180° up and down, left and right per image. I’d take four images in 90° increments, and one facing down at the ground to capture a full sphere of content, five images per node for six nodes, making 30 images in total for this project. I will only show the first three nodes as they are the most unique.
After all the images have been taken, I photoshop out any inconsistencies I find as well as the tripod on the image facing the ground. It makes the experience more professional. Below are the first two nodes.
After all the images had been photoshopped, I would do a quick check to make sure all of the images and horizons were lining up using GoProVR. Once that is done, I’d stitch it all together in Pano2VR. Once all the images had been stitched per node, the next step was to add pop-up for a few items in the store.
I took an image of a disc with its make, model, and flight numbers and added a tappable image indicator to let the user know that it was interactive.

Another step that had to be added was an audio file. Since the store had baskets for sale, when the user goes to the basket node, the sound of chains can be heard. The final step in the process was to add a video. There wasn’t a TV at the store, so I had to stick a virtual one on the wall. A video can be see just on the right as you walk in.
The business tour of Birdcage disc golf was a great project to work on as I have never done 360° photography before.
